Purpose
History
ADOPT was born in February of 1972 as a result of the efforts of a relatively small group of child placement workers representing inter-agency adoption committees in several areas of the state and state Department of Welfare adoption staff and specialists. The group's goal was to coordinate efforts to broaden adoption opportunities for Virginia's "waiting" children.
Our Committees
Quarterly Meetings
These meetings are held the first Wednesday of the following months: March, June, September, and December. The locations rotate between the Richmond and Charlottesville areas. Meetings include professional development training, family and child matching session, and networking opportunities. Membership dues are $15 for new members and $10 for returning members. Annual dues are collected at the September quarterly meeting each year. Dues are collected at other quarterly meetings if a member is unable to attend the September ADOPT Meeting.
